Face symmetry and beard styles differ greatly, but at the end of the day we all want a good clean shave. Here are a few tips on how to shave a beard correctly.
Please note: If the beard hair that you want to shave is long, then you need to trim it first. This can be accomplished with a pair of scissors or an electric razor.
- Dip a towel in warm water and apply it to your face. This will soften your facial hair and make for an easier shave.
- Administer shaving cream or gel to the areas of the face that you wish to shave.
- Before executing your first stroke of the razor, make sure that you tighten the skin of the area you wish to shave. This could be done by puffing your cheeks or pulling the skin with your fingers. This makes the stubble on your face stick out and helps to ensure a close shave.
- With medium pressure begin to shave with your favorite razor. Be sure that you’re shaving with the grain of your facial hair. If you shave against it, you have a better chance of cutting yourself.
- Make sure to clean the hair from your razor after each stroke. When I first learned how to shave a beard, I omitted this step and ended up with a dull razor and a poor shave. Lesson learned.
So now you know how to shave a beard with any decent wet razor. Shaving our beards can sometimes feel like a much hated chore. If you’re looking for another option, then you may want to consider dry electric razors. Here are some electric razor reviews to assist you in making a choice on which one is best for you. Another option is laser hair removal. Happy shaving!
